USDT TRC20 vs ERC20 vs BEP20: Which Network to Choose
- 1 min read
USDT exists on many blockchains. The token is worth the same everywhere, but fees, speed and wallet support differ — and sending over the wrong network can cost you the funds.
The three most popular networks
- TRC20 (Tron)
- Low and predictable fees, fast confirmations. The most popular network for USDT transfers and exchanges.
- ERC20 (Ethereum)
- The most widely supported, but the most expensive: fees range from a couple to tens of dollars at peak times.
- BEP20 (BNB Chain)
- Cents per transfer, fast. Supported by most wallets and exchanges, but not all.
The one rule: both sides must use the same network
A TRC20 address starts with “T”, ERC20 and BEP20 addresses start with “0x”. ERC20 and BEP20 addresses look identical — that's exactly where people lose money. Always check which network the receiving wallet or exchange expects.
Which one to choose
- Everyday transfers and exchanges → TRC20 or BEP20.
- DeFi on Ethereum or a wallet that only supports Ethereum → ERC20.
- Other options worth checking: USDT on Solana, TON, Arbitrum or Polygon — often even cheaper.
In GemX Swap every USDT network is a separate coin in the picker, so you see the real payout for the exact network you use.
